While the team at EA SPORTS has been working on NHL 13 since the puck dropped on the 2011-2012 season, they are far from done. NHL 12 was, and is, an amazing game, but fans of the series expect more every year. We’ve come a long way from the first NHL Hockey game for the SEGA Genesis and are lucky to have such a dedicated team working on the series. Here is a list of what I’d like to see in NHL 13.

I agree. I’d love to see every jersey ever worn!
1. The team benches have little to no animations to them. They look like cardboard cut outs, and it takes much away from being immersed in each and every game. Have their heads pan to follow the action. Have them talking with each other or their coach. Have the slide down the bench at the end of a shift. Have them tap their sticks against the boards after a fight. Have them do ANYTHING.
2. More customization for created teams, both on and offline. Let people create their own logos and upload it from the net. Want to see said logos not just on jersey and menus, but on their home ice. Also, allow for alternate jersey for on and offline teams.
3. Allow for people to upload pictures of their face to their created players. FIFA does this, and it’s awesome.
4. Have an alternate EASHL where you’re assigned a random position and you’re only way of getting out of it is turning off the console. It would make people have to learn defense/goaltending. I think it would create for better online drop in game experiences overall since everyone would have at least some idea what the other positions mindset are after having done it themselves. Give them incentives to do this… maybe have a daily/weekly challenge thing in the same vain of MMORPGS.
5. With EASHL club teams, every month generate a division, conference or league where teams are randomly assigned to said “league”. They can still play other opponents outside of the league, but would get awarded far more points for playing teams within the league. That would create rivalries and add a sweet dynamic in an already pretty cool experience. Maybe have the scores of current and recent league games flash on the screen as well.
6. When teams in EASHL are matched up with a team of equal players and the same computer or human goalie configuration, there’s no backing out without it going in the loss column. End of story.
7. I know there will always be glitch shots, but they don’t have to be this prevalent. Why do computer goalies drop down in the butterfly when skaters do a simple move near the blue line, leaving the top shelf exposed? There has to be a way to mitigate stuff of that nature.
8. Run off of Microsoft/Sony’s servers. Cut out the EA server middle man. It only causes more problems.
9. Give me a job and copious amounts of cash for having so many amazing ideas.
10. In all seriousness EA, great job on 2010-12. They’re far from perfect, but they’re excellent products that keep me and my friends coming back.

also there should be snow flying off your skates when you stop going full speed..

Change everything to do with the trade negotiations in Be a GM….trade values don’t reflect skill as much as they do potential….an 18 yr old with 68 ovr. shouldn’t be worth more then a 25 yr old with an 80….
2K used to have the ability to see what kind of offers you could get for somebody, or show what it would take to get some one on another team….loved that…
gameplay that i wish to have for nhl 13 are
1. college hockey
2. more then 1 ref
3. custom your own decal picture on jersey and goalie mask like (forza motorsport racing game) for online and offline even online team play
1. KHL teams
2. American Junior/NCAA teams
3. European Junior teams
4. be able to start/play in these league in Be a Pro depending on where your player is from( one thing they need to do is have an option of to create a whole new player just for Be a Pro as well with the option to use your game player).
5. WAY more options in every aspect of creation zone or have an Online Team Build Similar to NCAA Football ( would make creaing teams a gigillion times easier and more fun).
6. be able to interact with teams in European/ junior/college leagues in Be a GM.
7. be able to show sweat on players faces and jerseys as the game goes on like FIFA.
8. have suspentions in game modes( judged by Brendan Shannahan and Department of Player Saftey as you watch the suspention videos on NHL.com).
In game modes, have the option to have players overall reflect on the how they did in the previous season and age (a player who does amazing and is a 78 overall sohuldn’t still be 78 overall when the new season starts, as to a player who sucks in the previous season shouldn’t stay at 88 overall, or if he’s to old, his overall should reflect that.)
9. IIHF license. nuff said.
10. Make me senior producer so i can make sure these changes happen!
I think it would be cool if you could design your home rink for both online and offline modes. Not from the ground up but be able to pick from a few genre designs, your logo on the ice,what color the boards are
1. Suspension in BAP and GM mode
2. Cuts and repairs from fights and pucks to the face
3. In BAP mode being traded without a request
4. Starting by getting drafted into juniors
The first two are probably very hard to program in but I think the last to shouldn’t be that complicated for professionals

BE A PRO MODE: More personalization, be able to have your own place like in ncaa football. Buy a better house when you get a better contract. Buy cars. Trade Negotiations, Interviews, more interactions. Autograph signings, and the ability to get sponsors and endorsements.

More could be participate in the actual warm up. In the offseason train with your player. Be able to create custom goal horns for customized teams and gm mode. Be able to go buy houses and live a real life as a superstar. Have a ohl draft to start ur carrer in hockey. In customized teams, have the logo that u designed put on the centre ice. In gm mode, have a chance to move citites if ur fans or going down or u just wanna move
We should have the skills comp. in NHL 13.
Give a goalie the abillity to dive across the net when he’s out of position just like the computer goalies often do. Dive with the glove or stick (not diving poke check) a 4th desperation save.
Also in club games stop the home team advantage and fake slap shot glitch when playing as home team.iIt takes so long to find a game because people do not want to play as the away team
i would love to see refs actually starting to call penalties after game has stopped… that would stop players from body checking everyone around them
more realistic penalties (too many uncalled for obstructions while one can always get away with a ‘knee check’ even after the puck carrier has passed the defending player…)
more options for human goalies (sideways dives as already mentionned, need for a way to more easily stop cross crease goals…)
Brawls would be cool, but for me the number one thing is better stat keeping in BeAGM. I want to be able to follow the careers of guys, and it is painful (or often impossible) to find each guy, find out his career teams played for, stats and history/awards. Hard to really be into the universe I create when I can’t get to this stuff!
Having some sort on online component, where you could view your team stats on your computer, would be a great addition.
Call me crazy but this is what me and my buddy were thinking… EA Sports- NHL: THE GAME!
You are an actual hockey player, let me explain.
You start at the age of 15 and play for your Junior A, Junior B, AAA team, whatever. Get scouted and get offers from CHL teams. Get drafted and play your way through the CHL and finally get drafted to the show. Play in the IIHF World Juniors! Participate in draft day. Throw the jersey on and take pictures with the GM and owners.
This is where it gets crazy. In gameplay you can interact with players, get a talk from the coaches on the bench, drink water and gatorade. Show the player in the dressing rooms in between periods, get them refuel’d, re-tape the sticks, sharpen the skates, show coaches giving pep talks. Even to interviews post game!
NHL’ers go to practice more than they actually play games, this will effect your attributes. The better you do in drills the more points you will get towards improving your player. Just like in MLB: The Show.
Later on you can be able to request trades, talk to coaches and GM’s. Ask for what you want to be paid later on in your career (can’t ask for 5.5 mil a year as a rookie, let’s be realistic). Your value as a player is all dependant on how good you are.
Alright so you’re an NHL star and now you made it on the all-star team. Participate in the skill comp and enjoy the fun with the other players.
Once you become real good you can compete in the winter olympics! Play for your country and go nuts when you win! Sing your anthem loud and proud once you win!
It’s playoffs time and it’s huge! The fans are all hyped and you and the players know it’s business time. Once you win the cup show the stanley cup celebration, hoist it and pass it to your teammates. Shake your opponents hands and have a little short one liner with them, like the goalies always congratulate each other. Stanley Cup Parade!
Finally earn your way to the hall of fame!
Now this game will be more expensive but it will be the last NHL game EA sports will ever make. There will be updates every now and then, graphics, gameplay, experience, rosters, etc. This idea is absolutely crazy but let’s be honest, I don’t want to have to keep starting a Be A Pro mode every time I buy a new Chel game. I want to actually play through my career and not just play till I’m 25 and then buy the new NHL game or having to spend $70 on a new game that really isn’t that NEW. All I ask of EA is to please PLEASE make it realistic! Live the hockey life!
This would be a huge project for EA but I seriously think this could be one of the best games ever. They can still keep making the same games for now but I really think they should consider this as a long term thing.
A World Tourney for teams/players who miss the playoffs in GM/Pro mode. I would LOVE to see international play integrated into these modes to give players a more full and realistic hockey experience
1.) Sticks going through other players or sticks is a big fix that needs to happen.
2.) I think goalie game play/animations need a bit of an overhaul. Seems really stale and I’d like to see it freshened up.
3.) Better match making in EASHL. As in having equally bad or good clubs face each other a lot until you improve.
4.) KHL and NCAA teams would be great (Idk if they could get the NCAA license)
5.) Definitely need some aesthetic overhauls such as stick taping, blade configuration, the Nike Uniforms for the national teams (the IIHF ones they use) and BETTER GOALIE MASK DESINGS…like….THE REAL DESIGNS lol.

more logos for create a team or even fully customization logos for the create a team, they should have photo game face for creat a player, a skills competition and be able to control more than one user for gm mode
1) Goalies need to be able to have a better chance at saving those gay angled one-timers.
2) Goalies playing style needs to be more realistic.
3)All the be a pro and player transitions are great ideas.
4) Hip checks need to be better (realistic)
5) Penalty’s need to be up to date(head contact and the reff should call more different penalties)
-holding,cross checking, you get what im saying. And penalties should be actual penalties, I dont know how many times I’ve poked checked for the puck and player with the puck bends over and lifts one leg and thats tripping wtf. Or you ll get a player who takes 3 strides and creams you from behind and theres no call. Penalties need to improve alot i think.
6) After the whistle there should be some pushing and shoving.
7) The ability to control exactly where your shots go on net.
8) It would be different but something like be a pro you should have the option to be a reff or even coach your own team.
9) I liked the whole pushing in front of the net and creating screens but it’s way to crowded theres actually like 6 players in front of the net 1 hows the goalie suppose to see the puck and 2 how are the deffense suppose to score point shots if they cant get a half decent shot off.
10) when playing online verse mode if you can eliminate the skipping and if you lose you shouldnt lose points and drop down levels.
This would the most ultimate game if all those things were added.
It’d also be great if they could take club games into shootouts if you get passed OT. That’d be so epic.
I would love to see..
1) A longer intro before games, especially in Be A Pro mode.
2) It would be pretty cool to have a more behind the scenes expierience in Be A Pro mode like.. Training to get better like in NBA 2k12.

I think that the goalies could be better and there should be a mode in between rookie and pro for semi good people at the game like me. In the Winter Classic there should be the past Winter Classic rinks because I would LOVE to play at Fenway Park. The coaches should look better. Also, you should be able to design your own rinks and more roster changes when trades and line changes come. The rinks are usually sold out so why are they never? I would like the fighting to be better. The Legend team should be better. Like really, Seabrook in there instead of someone like Maurice Richard? Luongo is pretty much bad now so why not Tiny Thompson or Gerry Cheevers? Yes, I’m a Boston fan but Tiny Thompson is wayyyyy better then Luongo. The actual rink names should be there, like TD Garden. Also, we should be able to choose which custom song we want. Like we can go on EA Trax and choose a song, so why not with custom music? Referees should be part of the game too! I’m pretty sure I’ve shot it at refs, skated through them many times, so why can’t they change that? Also, the penalties can be ridiculous. I can do a diving poke check in mid air and still be in the air and get a tripping penalty. And then someone goes behind my goalie and hits him and knocks the net off the moorings and there wouldn’t be a penalty. I would like playoff beards on the players and when you win the Stanley Cup you should be able to skate around with it and pass it around when you choose. Lastly, we should choose different commentators. I absolutely hate Gary Thorne and Bill Clemente. They are bad announcers. We should choose who should be the announcers like Jack Edwards is an absolute nut! I would absolutely love him to be an announcer on the games and we have those NBC fags as the playoff commentators.
Oh and I would also like to add a few more things, first high sticking, I’m tired of having a powerplay or a rush in the enemy zone and the shot deflects off something and someone bats it like higher then the crossbar. This should be high sticking and a whistle. I’m also tired of the double ping on the posts it is annoying. And every time I break the glass everyone acts like another whistle. Sometimes on wraparounds I get it in then they blow the whistle. Have fun with the game too! NHL 2K5 was in my opinion the BEST NHL video game I have ever played, model it after that! I hate how if I’m like for example Zdeno Chara (lefty) and I lost my stick and the bench offers me a stick and someone like Shawn Thornton (righty) gives me a stick and it fucking converts from righty handedness to lefty handedness, like really EA? And the benches are stupid when they do give away their sticks they touch the floor and receive a new stick. They also act glitchy and slow on the benches. On instant replay we should go on to a fans point of view. Add suspensions for players on season mode too. And my last point is l Iike TurtIes
For BAP.
1. Be able to negotiate contract length and price.
2. Be able to request a trade.
3. Be able to request being a captain or assistant captain early in your career.
For be a GM.
1. Make the prospects in the draft better. In the real NHL the top 5 picks almost always make the NHL in their first year. In NHL 12, none of the picks make the NHL unless he’s a franchise player.
2. Have players request trades if they are improperly used.
3. Be able to have your own expectations of the team, instead of being forced to follow the owners.
4.each team have their own budget. And be able to to control finances based on ticket sales and team positioning in the standings.
I would love to see an international mode or something.
Mange your team through world championships and attempt to qualify for the Olympics.
Also I’d like to see BAP have features like demanding trades, hall of fame, negotiating contracts, friendships (can be as bad as say Crosby and Ov8 or as good as Mike Richards and Jeff Carter) these would affect your lines, what team you play for (if the star player hates you and your a 3rd liner you’d obviously be traded) maybe throw in no trade clauses and maybe add a quality rating which is like an overall rating but is based off how the player plays. Say if Rinne gets like 3 straight shutouts this would go up and he’d have a better trade value play better ect
i would like to see a be a bus driver mode so you can pick a team and drive them to there game

The fight engine has to be retooled. The current one is terrible. I know everyone says this is not an important part of the game, but it could be corrected so easily and make an already great game even better. The fighting from NHL 94 from Sega was more than good. Took good timing and required some skill. The third person is a much better way to approach fighting, just like any generic fighting game. If they could add the blood like they did in NHL 94 it would be awesome.

BAP mode has barely changed since its inception. Im waiting for them to actually do something indepth with it. 2013 and they really only added the option to request a trade and retire. BAP is my favorite mode, but it sucks because they do nothing with it.
Get serious EA and bring in some real innovation to this mode. I will not buy another version of NHL until they do.
